“Mental skills are what set the best apart from the rest in archery. With the help of regular group sessions, I’ve learned how to clear my mind and focus at the start of each shot, allowing me to put in my very best performances at the competitions where it counts. The team has learned how to use breathing and relaxation techniques, deal with negative thoughts, assess our approach to practice and set goals. As a result we’ve put in some of our best collective performances ever and reached a level that simply would not have been possible before.”
The University of Warwick Archery Club is one of the top student teams in the country, with a consistent record of performances at regional and national level competitions. With a steady intake of beginners each year the team continually trains up individuals to a very high standard, and members push their skills and focus to the limits at major tournaments each year. Be it mental endurance at BUCS outdoors, where absolute concentration must be maintained over 8+ hours of competition, or high pressure knockout rounds at BUTC where only perfect accuracy will hit the target precisely.
